Walking in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation

    When: Fri, 05 Oct 2018 – Sun, 07 Oct 2018

    Where: Baltimore – Sherkin Island

Baltimore has lovely walks around the village, on the Islands, near Lough Hyne which can be enjoyed “unaccompanied”.  However, if you’re looking for guided walks then join us on the Skibbereen Walking Group’s weekly outings (Sundays).  Those who have walked with us in previous years (in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation) will remember the walks on Heir Island, Sherkin, Lough Hyne, Trafraska, Beacon.

This year we will revisit Slievemore on Sherkin Island for an intermediate level (b) walk with partly roads, boreens and rough ground. Therefore the walk is not suitable for children in buggies and to walk through gorze and on uneven terrain we recommend a minimum age of 12.  Sorry dogs are not allowed on these walks.

Meet at Baltimore Pier at 11:45 am for 12:00 ferry.

Walk will include the lighthouse, Horseshoe Harbour, Gneeves and Slievemore with spectacular views over Gascanane Sound and Cape Clear.

Optional soup and sandwiches in the Jolly Roger afterwards.

    Duration 4 hours –  Distance 9.5 km.

Return ferries at 16:45 and 17:45. Ferry cost €12.   If there are more than 20 in the group the ferry company will give us a discount.
